In skincare, less IS more! If you can stop doing these three things, it may not only save you some time and money, but it may save your skin as well.
over-cleansing
This is especially true for those with acne prone skin! Your skin is amazing in that it is tough enough to protect your whole body, but it is also highly sensitive and delicate at the same time. Don’t clean it like you clean your kitchen sink! Step away from harsh soaps and cleansers and try something more mild, or give oil cleansing a try. You can also try using cleanser only before bed. Night time cleansing is important for removing dirt, oil and makeup, but during sleep, the oils that your skin produces are hydrating and balancing, so they needn’t be washed away in the morning.
over-moisturizing
There is only a certain amount of product that your skin can absorb, so slathering on your moisturizer and serum is just wasting product and clogging your pores. A little dab will do ya’.
over-exfoliating
It’s tempting but highly damaging in the long term to buff away too much of your top skin layer. You’re actually removing the protective barrier that your skin has, and once that is removed, your skin is more exposed to environmental toxins and sun damage, causing aging. Exfoliate once to twice a week, max. Your best bet? Get a professional treatment monthly to take care of your exfoliation needs.
